as far as I know, yes you can transfer your sand from the previous tank, provided you do it when the previous tank is cleared from inhabitants.

not advisable...normal sand bed yes like terry said..but dsb may have some toxic stuff and when u try to stir it up...you are nuking the tank...hehe

water should be able to use in the other tank if it is ok in the first place

depends on what you want to keep..mh for clams/sps ...t5/pl/fl for the rest...hehe

If you are going for MH lights, the ideal would be 1 x Mh for every 2 feet of tank. Intensity will take into account type of corals n LS u plan to keep.. 150W for LPS and other soft corals but 250w for SPS. Can the seniors kindly correct me if I am wrong. Regards

but I thought stirring up the sand bed is okay provided your tank only consist of water and the sand itself? hmm

Q4 if you want to keep lps and other stuff under MH, it will be even better as t5s could not penertrate as well compare to MH into depth of the tank....... BTW once you use MH, you must think of heat problem and suggest you to get a chiller.
