Recommended Posts

Hi all marine lovers! Need ur help coz i'm having a problem with my 4x2x2ft tank. Algae starts to grow on the liverocks! I'm runnning on 3 T5 lighting (1 actinic + 2 aqua blue special) 6 hours of actinic lighting & 4 hours of special. If i extend the hours to 10 or 12, the algae grow is even faster! (CA=450 KH=10 PH=8.0 NO3=40) What should i do? :thanks:

welcome to src!

i suspect ur PO4 is on the high side as well which in turn contribute to the algae growth.

either u do more water change to bring N03 and PO4 down at the same time. or get some PO4 removal products together with a fluidized reactor.

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Perhaps it would be prudent to ask what kind of algae is he getting first. Can you ID the algae... not all types of algae are bad. Some make good food for your tang fishes, some can be easily controlled by snails, some are actually beautiful to want to cultivate.
