Hi bro, I just bought 1 set today. Do you have a tiny bubble flow out together with the water to your tank?
starcoaster
Hi, I am new and joined because I saw this post and hope someone can help! I recently bought the skimmer/ filter shown here, http://www.shopjebo.com/60/jebo_protein_sk...178_detail.aspx and am having some problems working with it. I am fairly new to marines (my tank is six months old) and got it to replace the already set up skimmer I had, so it is a new type to me. First of all, I assembled it as shown (I think!) but removed the sponge filtration media and also the slide in panel with wool in it, and have used live rock rubble in it instead. The filtration part of it works (I assume, as it is circulating the water through the machine) but I don't think it's skimming. With the plug provided in the airline the machine operates silently but does not seem to skim. With the plug removed, the unit becomes very noisy and is churning out into the tank, white water and bubbles etc, which I thought should be what goes up into the cup. I have been running it like this for a day now. There is nothing going in the cup, not water or skimmate or anything. Also, it is so noisy! Is that normal? I have tried affixing an airstone to the end of the airline in case it was the sucking in air that was making the noise, but to no avail. Please can you advise? Many thanks. beetlejuice403
Hi all, am going to start my 1st ever NANO FOWLR marine tank soon (hopefully with fingers crossed...) saw this thread & would like to ask if this piece of equipment is good enough for NANO marine tank? [i'm going to start mine in a 24cm cube tank - Gex Genoah 235 with just Gex's Hang-on light & filter] Based on my tank, it's only be about 4 gallons... Hence will the Jebo 178 be an overkill (too strong flowrate for my NANO tank?)? If it's good & suitable for my intended set-up, don't mind buying one (new or secondhand) to replace the original Gex's Hang-on filter... Hope to see advises/ suggestions soon... Thanks! spleep
Hi, I got the same skimmer from e-bay. Bugger to set up but found if you fit activated charcoal in body instead of live rock and place pads of green scrubber material in outlet side of filter it should solve the micro bubble problem in the tank. Hope this helps! Sam (uknewbie)
