Halohalo
hi all ..... tot of changing my 3.5ft tan to a slightly smaller 3 ft tank. Had read up past topic but no much mentioned. Therby need fellow reefers advice so tat i can plan it out to prevent any bad problems while changing. Thanks. Below are wat i found on past topic. Is it correct? 1. Get the new tank ready 2. Take out water, LR, LS from the old tank to the temp holding container. 3. transfer the live sand to the new tank. 4. Fill up with the old water and top up if necessary. 5. Landscape the rock 6. Done within a day..... transfer LS back. Cheers

SRC Member reeftask Posted November 18, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted November 18, 2007 BTW, I would take this opportunity to change the water new. But seems you need too much containers. Try not to let LR have no water. No need re-cycle. Cycle is for new LR without enough bacs. If your LR are very matured, there will be no ammonia spikes. If you worry, you can dose thos bacs additive to prevent.

I have a terrible exp in change my 4ft to 6ft tank. yeah, I agree too. When my friend upgrades from 3ft to 5ft and even upgrade the sump to 5 ft too at the same time, I almost upgrade too. After thinking through, I gave up. Just too much work. Moreover shifting off my existing 5ft tank needs 4 person.
