There's also a difference in price. False percula (A. ocellaris) are cheaper. Not a reliable measure unless you always go for the cheaper clown.

I got my true percula clown from Pac Marine. They seem to have constant supply of them. Maybe you should check out the place.

Attach is a pic of my clown fish. Damm, the fish just can't stop moving. That's the best my old digi cam can capture.

The last i visit Coralfarm, they have lots of true Perc. I bought one and my flame clown is chasing the hell out of him when introduce. I thought he is going to disappear soon but he is definitely one of the hardiest fish i see around and he manage to survive! But i seldom have a chance to see him, he only appear during feeding time but can see that he is getting more daring as time past.

So where is pac marine? U can check it out at the LFS listing under siteinfor.

From what I read, clowns are quite delicate and most of those captured from the wild, don't even survive the transfer to marine farms, let alone the transfer from the farms to LFS and then from LFS to homes. Most clowns being sold are captive bred and are hardier than those captured from the wild so they are more adaptive to changes in environment (as long as water conditions are stable) and transfers.

If you're looking for true perc clowns, why don't you go for the golden band maroon clown? So much cuter... but I got an unmated pair and the first day they were put into the tank, they fought so hard  the smaller guy had his fins and tail ripped just because it wanted to share the anemone.

Strangely enough, they are enjoying the same anemone together now. I'm happy! They are soooo cute!

3v|L,Dec 13 2002, 11:33 AM]haha.. can i mix maroons with false perculas?

actually maroon cannot mix with any kind of other clown but i manage to mix my maroon with a common clown which is much smaller. i don't know why it's possible, maybe it's because the common clown is much smaller and the maybe the maroon don't see it as danger.

3v|L,Dec 14 2002, 12:13 AM]can i keep 3 percula together?

actually it depends but usually it's possible. the best is to get 3 of them from the same place and add them together to avoid them fighting each other.

they do fight but won't really fight until killing each other.

so far the most agressive clown is maroon, am i right?

is tomato clown agressive?

nothing beat maroon, IMO

i also agree.

but very strange, i have a maroon clown myself, when i introduce it into my tank with clown, it start to bite every single clown aggressive once it's in the tank!!!

but after some time, my maroon clown got attack by all the other clowns!!! and i have to separate this maroon clown from the other clowns to protect it!!!

anyone expensive this before? how come my supposed to be aggressive maroon clown got attack by a group of clown? gang vs 1? heheehhe

The tomato is very aggressive too, but I don't think it will kill unless its bigger than the others... my tomato clown didn't allow the perculas to eat. Often swim towards the food the perculas were going for, sometimes even attacking them to prevent them from eating... this is even though there is food nearer to himself! He also didn't allow the perculas to swim from one side of the tank to the other cos he and his anemone was smack in the middle of the tank.
