Hi all, stumbled across this TOTM in Advanced Aquarist Online and found out he is using a product called seaklear to remove PO4 from his tank. Here is the link for u guys to read click here and i also found out they do carry this product locally or you can get from Vpost shopping. It will be amazing if this really works. Imagine no $$$$$$$$ spent on Rowaphos anymore!!

hi bro, maybe you can try it out and let us know. The method he mentioned looks quite risky caused he did mentioned that it need to be caution and must slowly drip.

If this really proof that it works. I think a lot of money can be save here for Livestocks.

:thanks:

Few mths ago , when i was buying over livestock , and someone gave me a bit of the mention chemcial , he was using for his 5ft Full sps tank with no problem , BUT HE WARN :

This is only a temp Solution , and not to rely on it , he use it only in case of Emergercy , The principal of the solution is it alter the state of PO4 by binding it with it and hence ur PO4 turns into something else , Still exist in water column but no longer detected by ur test kit ,

hence is like Nh3 turning into No2 and No3 .. just another stage .

and another fact to take note , the above article is like 20'000 Gallon , meaning , if someone accidently drop a CAN oF COKE into the tank will have less effect vs us dropping into our standard 100G tank - 250G tank . so any adverse effect is hard to observe .

just my 2cent.

Hmmmm...

lanthanum chloride is another anti-coagulant that removes certain chemical compound including PO4 out of the water. It is again another waste water treatment product.

Beware of course, lanthanum chloride is toxic to animals/human. I dun know abt fishes. But I guess it is the same. Forget the fish, even handling it in its chemical states, requires care. Inhaling dust vapor, causes asthmatic symtoms. The list continue for it safety handling.

The author mention that it is dose into the sump before the the skimmer, expecting that skimmer removes the coagulant before it goes back to the main tank. A good idea so chemical leach back into the main tank is minimal. But he does not dose on a daily basic but only when PO4 is high enuf affects the coral.

Please see me article for cheap alternative treatment. I like the idea of drip treatment in sump and remove by skimmer. But my sump too small.

bro nakazoru,

you still using that FeSO4 to treat the PO4? How is your oldest coral condition? Ever change water? Coral still Growing since you used that chemical?

Bro reeftask;

My oldest coral which is a Gonio is still alive for 3 years now. Water change of course, once every month. FeS04, I dun use it very regularly, my process is quite tedious, I got lazy. All the more at the moment, I more busy to raise fries of my true percs. Too many failure...

Coral growth also depended of others parameters.... not only PO4. Best growth, zoa, frogspawn, gonio, coupled by good CA, KH....
