Currently, I'm running on resun C0500 1/2HP chiller. I suspect that there's some leakage on the chiller when i inspect the base of the chiller. I'm wondering whether should I get a new compressor chiller or should I repair it since it's only 1 1/2 year old.

But I'm worried that the 1HP compressor is an overkill for my tank and may increase my electrical bill! My resun C0500 is running 12 hours a day.

Anyone, pls advise!!! :(

This repair is only minor. Only problem is why it leak so soon? What type of pump and how did it connected?

I connect the input of the chiller to my OR6500 pump and the output of the chiller is connected directly to the return pipe of my main tank!

Maybe the force is too strong causing the chiller joints to leak over time.... U may need to factor this in after this incident....

I suspect that too. However, i tried using a 3000l/h pump b4 but it's not able to achieve a good chilling effect as compare using a 6500 pump!

Sometimes, one need to balance things thru' some observation..... if really cannot then ur next move is to use seperate pump.....

For me, I am using eheim 1262 connected to a daeli chiller input and then return to display. So far, things are still fine... turnover rate may be a bit low due to the distance but I think the tank can live with it so no intention to change it.....

hi bro, 12hrs aday. might be slightly too much, maybe a C1000 can solve ur prob?

I'm just curious.... How much "life supporting equipments" have been connected to the tank? Please do take a long hard look and eval the situation...

my 2 cents...

A 1HP chiller will save your bill. Any equipment that is overload will not save you money. You need to size the chiller for your tank.

Equipment:

30G Corner Tank with 10G Sump, 2 x 24W artinic T5, 1 x 24W 10K, 1x 24W 20K, 3" Grade 0 sand & Live rocks, Activated Carbon, Bio-home, 2 x Seio M620, Hailea 1/2HP Chiller, Redsea Pro Skimmer

Live Stock:

Turbo Snail x 1, Green Mandarin Dragonet X 2, Blue Tang X 2, True percular x 2, 1 x Algae Bleenie, Clarke clown x 2

Reef:

1 x 2" Blue maxima, Red/Brown/Purple Mushroom (Discosoma), Pink Ricordea yuma, A little colony Brown/Green common Zoanthus, Red/Pink/Green US Zoanthus, Eagle-eye Zoathus, 14 Branch Goniopora Pandoraensis, 1 Starburst Polyps, 3 + 2 Branch Frogspawn, 4 Blasto, palythoa, Cheato

RIPs (Since June 2005):

1. Sabae clown (KO by Clarke clown) 2. 1 branch melted frogspawn 4 branch 3. Golden maxima (Ripe the base off rock by me) 4. Algae Bleenie x 2 (Starvation) 5. Blue Maxima x 1, 2 x Maxima, 1 x frogspawn, rics (Overtemp...)

Old 30G Corner Tank.

Restarted 30G Corner Tank.
