Chiller Problem

I have this resun chiller CL650 recently it unable to chill my tank to 27 degree always at 30 degree now. I have use it for abt 4 years. does it mean that it is running out of gas? Now the chiller keep on kick in and wouldn't stop. Fan is working fine.

I have the same model and maybe the same problem. Does your chiller make motor noise every 10-15 minutes? A LFS mentioned that there's only 3 poss. reasons:

1. no more gas

2. motor spoil

3. need to change thermostat.

I think for now you should not use it at all. Maybe I'll be sending mine for repair tom. I'll keep u update.

If the motor noise is hummimg noise, then the compressor is done. At the moment repairing compressor, people just replace it. Replacing the compressor needs to top up gas and compressor oil. So when that cost added up, maybe getting a second hand chiller will be more worth? A new CL650 is quite cheap nowadays. Is it worth to repair the compressor?

Keep us update so we will know if its still worth to repair or to buy a new one.

Do you have any other temperature measuring device? Try to take the tank temperature. If temperature is cold, then the thermocouple or termostat is down. If water is hot, it must be no gas, or gas leaked out from chiller gas line. Your case mostly not the compressor spoil.

Babareef is right, try to stop the chiller is it didnt cool down the water. No point wasting electricity and worse if the gas leaks into the pipe which your saltwater flows in. That means dissolving the gas in your tank.

Some cases people dead sleeping in the car due to aircon gas leakage. This gas will make humans dizzy and later go up small lorry.

Thanks for the replys... I guess its not enough gas to chill down the tank.. as i tried to off the chiller it easy when up to 32 degree. so as to not further kill my LS i have to on the chiller. For the fan kicking all the time is due to unable to meet my assign 27degree. so i guess to endure abit more till i repair my chiller

I've sent it to Reborn cos I bought it 2nd hand from other customer. Till now I have not received any news abt the chiller. I guess Mr Chua is busy with his weekly shipment. I guess its not worth repairing so I might buy another 2nd hand chiller.

Anyone using the Hailea 1/2 HP chiller? How good is it? A LFS shop is selling a 2nd hand one to me. Any expert advice about electric consumption, noise and cooling capacity?
