SRC Member Tanzy Posted November 12, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted November 12, 2003 LR should always have coralline algae. It's pink to purple underwater but may appear brown or black in the air. The coverage of the coralline algae determines the quality of the rock. More the better but you must balance that with form and size of the rock. Sometimes you'll find macroalgae growing on some spots. The rock will be teeming with other invertebrates and bacteria that you can't spot when buying the rock. Just try to go for unique shapes like arches and plates instead of big boulders. Quote Warning: Heavy handed moderator in operation.
