How can you say you cannot compare Teco with Hailea.

I have owned both. RA680 and the Hailea 1hp, was never impressed with the RA680, noise or performance

im using RA680 and when compare with a hailea.....i still find teco a better choice. let see what other have to say........... ;)

Bros, chill! :P I think to each his own la. Lets not get into another debate bout chiller brands, lets not hijack his thread. people trying to buy chiller leh. :D The most important thing is so long it can chill the water. Cost, reliability, noise etc will depend on buyer.

I personally if got 2000+ to spend, will get a multi spit aircon compressor (new or second hand), put it on my service belcony, run piping to the tank and get bout 20,000+btu of cooling power. Get the aircon guy to custom the exchanger. This way, no noise, no heat from the compressor!! Can cool the biggest 6footer in a jiffy!! But dont have $2000plus and dont have 6foot tank so must carry on dreaming!! he he.... :yeah::yeah:

My R680 was maybe an early example, at least 8 years ago. Plagued with vibration/noise which i would say was caused by the manufacturing quality similar to that of Italian cars in the 80's and 90's.

In my opinion it was unable to effectively cool my 160g tank. It would run for endless hours just to get a 2 deg drop in temp. It was serviced several times. The cooling fan finally burned out. The Hailea, although of a larger hp runs for about 10 mins or so under the same conditions(feed/return) to drop the temp by 1deg. The Hailea was considerably cheaper, titanium coil and Japanese compressor built as an Aqua-medic joint venture. Time will tell.

Maybe i was unlucky with the RA680, but my experience stopped me buying another.

I have use both Teco and Hailea chillers too......

My 1.25 HP Hailea chiller has so far be doing fine cooling my 5 footer reef which is running on 3 x 250 W MHs.....

Guys,

this is all very interesting... but I'm trying to buy a chiller here... not debate the pros and cons of each available manufacturer.

For now I have a small 200 liter tank. I want a cheap, second hand chiller to keep the water cool. That's all.

Later when I've got more money I'll get a bigger tank with a nice new chiller. Until then i want to make do with what I can aford.

so... anyone got one to sell?
