hi, yesterday went to reborn to look for LR. uncle [ the 1 hu make the glass tank] said have but its reserved for some1 and can sell me some. he even told me that the rock was on the floor for weeks and he dare to sell me the dead rock. i was inconvinced and went there again today. the uncle was not in but his younger brother was. he told me that the rocks on the floor were dead and cannot sell me. he even offered me to give him my tel number to contact me once the new stock come. he asked me not to put to b so kamchong and do things slowly. metal halide for the tank and he said no and told me that 2 FL is enough as strong light kills the coral and heat the water up, the corals wont 'open'. he oso don recommend me a chiller and MH cos he advised me that it consumes lotsa electrical bill. he told me that he can teach me how to do marine step by step. think hes very kind . isnt he?

Eh, Devil, u changed yr Avatar? Hahah couldnt recognise yr nick for a moment...

Hmm not much to say abt Reborn, cept it doesnt offer much corals but has shrimp all the time (just bot a Blood shr; saw a Harlequin-it was soooo cute...too bad it eats stars...)

Anyways, i think Fl is not really enuff unless u keeping under-2ft tank, and keeping only low light corals...Its true that MH and chiller not mandatory; but they are ideal equipment nevertheless...

Well, to be honest with u, i think most LFS guys lie abt things sometimes... I guess esp with all the new restrictions and their own bottom-line to think abt?

So do take their words with abit of thought!

Strong lights killing coral? Hmmm, how strong can FL get? <_< I have never seen corals die due to too much light if they are given proper acclimatisation. There's a guy called Lunchbucket on RC who has a 400W MH over his 2' tank and Cheese Sandwich on Reef.org has two 250W over his 2' tank. At least he didn't try to sell you the watt/gal idea. Light intensity remains the same regardless of water volume.

MH does heat the water up quite a bit, a chiller is almost certainly necessary if MH is used unless the tank is in an aircon area.
