Any expert to id? Interest to know that as well 'cos I have observe that critter in my tank too.... My observation tells me that they r algae eater after light off.

I was wondering r these some kind of abalone (the shell) 'cos I have bought 1 long time ago(from ML, Henry) which looks similar except for the size difference. The one I bought was huge (1 to 2") compare to those found in my tank now (<2cm). I have not been able to see that big guy anymore....

Does it able to lay and fertilise the eggs by itself?

Those are Stomatella Snails...

Have a lot of them in my tank... Mostly night dwellers and eats algae...

I dunno if the black is the same species.. Haha...

And that is a fireworm, not the normal bristle we see and can inflict a few burning bristle if you accidentally touch them...

my tank now is a snail factory lehz..

lolx..

even got 1 nassarius snail duno come out from where...

does ur abalone die off in a very clean surface tank compartment?

cus they die off themselves when inside my sump e glass r super clean in there

maybe they die with nth to feed on..

Haha.. tell me about it.... Me too after lights off. I have basically 2 type of snails producing factory (base on their shell shape) which I do not know their name. Lucky they are algae eater type (I think) that's why never bother to find out the species.

For me, I do observe some empty shells inside my tank not sump or overflow which could be due to either the copperband or sixlines wrasse. However, I have not been able to witness the killing yet.

As for your case, you may need to investigate further on the pH level? My reason is that basic instint is in every creature in nature and they should be able to find their way to get their food unless your tank has been cleaned off of all algae....

The long time is something like 2 or 3 years back.....

Seriously, I do not know for sure. That is my guess 'cos with a flame angle, a BT, a YT, 2 anthia, a percula clown, a copperband, a sixlines wrasse and finally 4 cleaner shrimps.... they seems likely to be the killer else it may hint problem... I did not see a lot of empty shells, just some lying if I look closely so I conclude it to be killing from the fish.....

BTW, why do you say that if no clams then snail is your friend? Pls enlighten 'cos I do have clams in my tank.... :thanks:
