T5 compared to PL

Hi all, just curious to know why so many ppl seem to be using T5? One T5 tube is 24watt for 2ft but PL is 55watt for 18 inch.

If using retrofit, T5 twinfix(ATI) is total 48watts for 2ft but two tubes of PL is total 110watts!!!!! More than 2 times the output.

Anyone experienced pls shed some light.

55 W PL = 2ft not 18 inches wat....

anyways, when using lightings for ur tank, we r more interested in the intensity of the light n not how much power it consumes.... in a more scientific way of saying, we r more interested in how much lumens per area....

HO (high output) T5s though hav lower wattage than PL, provides more intensity... thus, betta....

on the other hand, having a sleeker tube size, u can hav more tubes (increased intensity)... n since wattage is lower, in the long run, u will save on electrical bills too....

btw, intensity of HO T5s do not drop as much as PL when used for a period of time, hence, not gonna change tubes as often too....
