I also had same problem and i google it. I found out that some of them successful with the below method.

Cut a neck of the bottle and insert it backward. Then tie a fishing line or string to the bottle. Then put the seafood or a cube of frozen brine shrimp and place near the rock that worm stay (at the night with all light off) (if u wanna inspect, use the RED light). when the worm go inside the bottle, pull the fishing line and gotcha!!!

You try first and let me know the result.. hee hee. hope it'll work. when my off day, i'll try it also.. ! B)

Ha ha i also have the same problem, thinking of buying commercial trasp to catch it. Cause one night i saw it try to reproduce so i think i better do something to it. Or if u want the natural way go look for predator like six line or trigger or boxer shrimp. For Six line i try but don seem to work for big worm it only attck small worm and also shy fish too <_<

yesterday i saw 2 bristle worm. 1 big 1 small. now my star polyps have a big hole on it and the purple layer have become flaky now...

i thinking of quarantine the star polyps so that the worms don't attack my other corals.. so when i quarantine it, it will roam out and i will use a pincer to grab it. hopefully it works.

i hate bristle worms... it look disgusting!

Actually....no need to set trap. Last time I took my coral rock with bristleworm in it and expose in the air for 0.5 hr. It'll just come out on it's own and then luckily my coral still survive

Anyway ....that;s my method. so try at yr own risk though

i'm wondering if i took my star polyps and soak it in tap water for 30mins, will the star polyps die?

I prefer to use a trap first. don't wanna stress the coral. no success in trap then use ur method of expose in air loh.

yesterday i took out my star polyps and air it for 1 hour! the worms didn't come out... and today, my star polyps still bloom!

i never see the worms for 2 days already... mmm... must be too scared to come out.

Oooops...! 1 hour? Think it's too much.

For me, I took out my mushroom liverock and put in the sink for 15min. Then i found 1" brittle worm is thirsty and come out under the stone. So just let it go down to the sink. :P:sick:

But very sad thing is my mushroom got a lot of stress and a lot of white thingy come out from the mouths. See how when the light on at the morning. Hopefully it'll recover soon.

I've got tons of bristle worms. I don't like them but they do help clearing the leftovers. Normally the bristle worms don't harm any corals or any livestocks. Whether how hard you do to catch them or rid of them, they will come back again. So think don't bother to catch them.

true true, nice cleaners, juz the appearance....:sick:

Anyway, if anyone wanted to put the affected live rock into tap water, use distill water better. Best if check the ph of the water to be the same of in the tank to minimize the shock to ya coral.

Last time my dottyback tak bristeworm for breakfast... :D

You can try this. It worked for me.

Place some food, a piece of shrimp or krill into a nylon stocking (pantyhose)

And put near the worms home leave over nite make sure the room is dark.

The bristle worm will smell the food and come out to eat. Once it bristles touches the nylon stocking it will become stuck and trapped.

Hope this helps bro.

A freshwater bath of the LR hosting the worm. I worked for me more than once. But may stress any corals on the rock too. Proceed with caution.

"Be formless... shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle; it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot; it becomes the teapot. Water can flow, or it can crash. Be water, my friend..." - Lei Siu Lung (Bruce Lee)
