fire shrimp

it's been about 3 weeks since i last got this shrimp. but 3 weeks later, he still hasn't come out of hiding. he's hiding under one of the lr in my tank and i know he's still alive cause i can see him. is this behaviour normal? i love this shrimp.

It's normal. I have got my fire shrimp for 3 months and it is still hiding. I can only see it during feeding time.

Fire shrimp are afraid of the light. They will only come out after dark to scavenger for food.

Not really true. All my fire shrimps are roaming around even when there's light. Do you have any fishes that disturb it?

Hmm.. actually yeah in my opinion it's pretty normal for Fire Shrimps to hide out.. they tend to only come out when the lights are off cause it's their nature to do so..

That's why I prefer cleaner shrimps to fire shrimps (though I agree fire shrimps are considerably more pretty) cause they're cheaper and tend to be more bold.. and I THINK hardier..

Hey birman.. may I know what other LS you keep with your fire shrimp? Is it because you keep exclusively fire shrimp that's why they roam around in the light?

Throw in some frozen brineshrimp...and you can see them dancing in front of you!
