Do the cleaner shrimp really kill? Just bought 3 cleaner shrimps yesterday from AM and that night my bicolor dottyback (who stay in my tank for around 1 month) died in the next morning.

Actually my dottyback is a very active boy and by time i added the shrimps, he keeps hiding in the rock. And the next morning i found one cleaner shrimp is eating him like this... eeee... sorry for violence picture!!

I don think they will kill it unless it is dead then it will cleared the body.Unlike mantis shrimp which will hunt your fishes, crab will also kill your fishes when they are weak.

perhaps your fish got stressed with the new shrimp tankmates which drove it to be susceptible to disease or lower immunity to it thereby killing it and in the process, your shrimps are just doing its job in nature, that is to scavenge... IMHO...

but my fish is the very healthy fish before i added shrimps and i never see any sign of disease when it's dead. What i see is the shrimp is eating the fish until the belly open and the stomach come out already. eeee Dracula Shrimp? :fear::cry::cry2:

I've seen cleaner shrimps "clean" injured fishes where the injured fishes have an open wound. In the process of cleaning the open wound, the cleaner shrimps will inadvertently aggrevate the wound and make it worse. Eventually, the fish dies because the wound gets bigger/worse, and it then becomes a meal for the shrimp.

My fish is not a injure fish huh... Before they come, he's eating well and very active. Or did i buy the false cleaner shrimps? Is there any similar species? What's the max size for the cleaner shrimp? I scare they will become so big coz my tank is just 3ft tank.

And plz help me.. what do they eat? what should i give them to eat? hopefully the answer won't be a dead fish..

Cleaner shrimps will eat whatever they can get their tiny claws on! Most dead fish and other shrimps. But they're typically not aggressive, i.e. they won't kill other healthy fishes/shrimps, at least not from what I've seen.
