Starting a new thread for my new SPS tank.

The tank was my old decommissioned 5 feet FOWLR tank. The tank was completely broken down with all the sand, live rocks, sump and filtration removed.

The old FOWLR tank was dosed with chelated copper. After the tank was dismantled, it was scrubbed clean.

The tank was filled with water and I used 3 packets of seachem cuprisorb to absorb whatever copper was left.

I left the Cuprisorb for 2 months and repeatedly tested the water with copper test kits.

After testing repeatedly and not detecting any copper, the circulation pump was run and the water circulated to the new sump in the filtration room.

About 150kg of live rocks was put into the main tank and the tank was cycled.

The Protein Skimmer for the SPS tank is a Bubble King 250 Internal

I am using the Zeovit method of filtration. With a net water volume of 800 ltrs, I have 2 ltrs of zeovit in the reactor.

The zeovit reactor pump is controlled by the AquaController3 to cycle on for 3 hours and off for 3 hours.

For the first 3 days, 80ml of zeoStart2 was dosed into the reactor. After the 3rd day the zeostart2 dosage was reduced to 8ml daily for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks the zeostart2 dosage was reduced to 5ml daily,

16 drops of zeobak and 16 drops of zeofood7 was dosed daily into the reacor for the first two weeks. After 2 weeks the dosage was reduced to 16 drops of zeobak and 16 drops of zeofood7 twice a week.

After 34 days dosed 8 drops zeobak and 8 drops zeofood7 daily for a week.

The Calcium Reactor is a Reef Maniacs RCR 824 with a RCR422 Secondary chamber.

I filled the main chamber with 12.5kg of Rowalith C+ and the secondary chamber with about 5 lbs of ARM media.

The CO2 cylinder and the solenoid valve came from Oceanic.

The RCR 824 has a slot for a pH probe. I used a pH probe from a PX1000 expansion module of my AquaController 3 to monitor the pH in the main chamber of the reactor.

The AC3 is programmed to turn on the solenoid of the CO2 cylinder if the pH in the calcium reactor is greater than 6.60 and to turn off the CO2 when the pH reaches 6.50 in the reactor.

Got the Tunze TS48 kit for water movement in the new SPS tank. Got a couple of Stream rocks too to hide the Tunze stream 6100's.

Put in a Tunze wavebox back to back with the other Tunze wavebox in my LPS and soft coral tank.

I needed to counterbalance the other wavebox in the lps/softies tank which tends to come unloose and pump water out of my tank!

I am using the Algae Free Magnet holder to hold the Tunze Streams. The Algae Free magnet holders are smaller and neater than the Tunze magnet holders.

Got a WavySea for the SPS tank. The WavySea can distribute the return water through 360 degrees rotation.

The WavySea can handle up to 2,300 Gph water flow. It is just about perfect for my Red Dragon 10m3 10,000 lph flow.

The WavySea tunze stream holder is very well made with acrylic screws and it fits the 6100 perfectly.

If u decide to use the Tunze adapter to rotate a tunze pump, u normally give up the ability to rotate the return from the return pump as the nozzle is blocked.

A T-joint was modified to fit the WavySea to allow the return water to flow thru a 3/4 incn loc-line flexible hose. the tunze adapter was then attached to the bottom of the T-joint.

Here is the WavySea connected to my Return pipe via a Eheim Hose.

The WavySea clamp is very well made and I like the way the WavySea was designed to allow u to mount it in multiple positions and place the clamp on horizontal and vertical planes.

I tied the WavySea to the glass brace for security as the WavySea is not waterproof and the warranty does not cover damage from water immersison.
