SRC Member darren Posted November 8, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted November 8, 2003 you can simply hook up your weipro hanging on the outside of your main tank with a pump that can be used non-submerged. most of the weipro powerheads though listed as "submerged use", can actually be used above water. there is attachments for this out of water use inside the box. all you need is to handle the hassle of extra pipe or hose works. regards, darren
SRC Member junyong84 Posted November 8, 2003 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 8, 2003 eh...attachments inside the weipro box... man....i dun recall any.. how does it look like???
SRC Member darren Posted November 8, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted November 8, 2003 i have a weipro 3000 and weipro 4000 working above water, 1 for skimmer and another for circulation. the fact that they r above water i suppose reduces the amount of heat released into my tank. there are attachment which comes laong with the powrhead which you can screw onto the powerhead when your remove the covering which holds the pre filter sponge inside the powerhead itself. SRC Member Nic a Jon Posted November 11, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted November 11, 2003 Hi Darren Just a couple of questions....the Weipro 3000/4000 pumps really can be used completely out of water as in out the the tank or partially submerged (only the water intake is underwater). The part that is above water, will it create so much heat that it will burn out?
SRC Member darren Posted November 11, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted November 11, 2003 you can use it completely out of the water. the water intake inlet can be hooked up to a rubber hose/pipe which in turn has to be submerged into the water of course. however you have to note that should you decide to use the pump out of water, you'll have to prime the pump first before it can start working. as for heat, thats the good part about using out of water. you reduce the amount of heat getting into your tank significantly! as for your concern about the pump heating up out of water, no worries cos thus far, i can only feel a very slight warmth when i touch the pump, which has to be normal. SRC Member Nic a Jon Posted November 11, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted November 11, 2003 So the pump is actually made for both in and out of water use. If u place it outside the tank/sump with all the hose/pipe connections, anychance it might leak and get ur floor all wet? Thanks for the info anyway
