wont it be good if all the water got skimmed?

That would be the most ideal situation actually. :)

just make sure that the turnover rate in your skimmer can handle the overflow from your tank. Too high a turnover in the skimmer means less contact time and each skimmer has a recommended turnover rate so it's a balance kinda thing.
