8 inch DSB or a bunch of cheato ?

Hi, In the process of upgrading my tank with some DIY.

Which one will ya guys suggest?

A big bunch of cheato or a new 8 inch DSB.

Lets juz say, I can only have one, please advise, thanks.

DSB will cost a high spike if u are not carefull with it.. cheato will be more better i think.

not careful? abit more specific bah, the DSB will be staged at away from my main tank, alway from my sand shifting goby and star though.

Was wondering about which of it has more efficiency fir their purpose.

how about cheatos on top of DSB? wil it work?

DSB need not be so deep,maybe 5inch is enough?

Hydrogen Sulphide will form in the DSB when it starts to mature... And it is poisonous when exposed to livestocks... So you have to be more careful not to stir the DSB when doing maintainance... Cheato will do a better job, and it does not turn sexual...

well personally have not try cheato(which i wil once my refugium is up)but feed back from a friend that has being using it claimed that its very good in removing no3. Further more its cheap+need. once over grown can use it to feed tangs..

Sand very messy la and once you had enough of it damn leh che to remove.

Have you consider mangrove?mite wana try that one day.

wah, dig up my old thread. haha.

Anyway, regarding Hydrogen Sulphide, it has been over-blown, after reading from threads in reef central and personally, disturbing my DSB, nothing happen. Oh well, no harm to be on the safe side though.

Recently, managed to hit 0 nitrate for my FOWL. [salifert testkit]

Using Cheato, red bamboo in my refugium as well as my portable DSB[Dun think much help though], over-skimming.

Combined with alot live rocks, I'm a happy man.

Cheato is one of the best nutrients exporter and it doesn't go asexual. Mag, me a bit skeptical about mangrove, it look nice, but I wonder their efficiency and also...no space....
