How do you know what flowrate to buy for a 3 ft sump to a 4 ft main tank?

What are the other factor to consider?

I still havent figure out how the water come down from the main tank.

I've been using the laguna pump for a year and a half. Works very well! Cleaned it once due to calcium deposits.

Hi,

Got the CR-4900 pump and wanted to use it as a return pump, anyone using the CR model as a return pump.

My main tank is 3.5ft, distancefrom sump to main tank is around 5ft.

Just bought Atman 106 2800l/h for my return pump max height 3.4m ... but the tag on the pump quote 4000l/h! at SGD36 only, no money to buy Eheim 1260 price at S$168, too exp..... but flowrate same

think better look at the performance at height constraints rather than the label... usually they dont perform as tagged when it comes to head loss.....

I am using DOM brand from Japan, flow rate is 3000l/hr so far okie cause me only $43 with power comsumption at only 35w

Dymax is actually LifeTech. A re-packaged Taiwanese made pump.

For all Taiwanese or China made pumps, u'll need to divide the l/hr by 2 and probably get a more accurate power. Whereas the German / US pumps list their true strength.

How do you experts balance the draining to the sump and return flow with high flow-rate pumps? I have my 3 ft main tank overflow when using Ehiem 2400 l/h pump. Heard a standpipe helps but cant seem to achieve that. Care to advise?
