SRC Member Reefzzz Posted July 1, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted July 1, 2007 Just got a bunch... nice.. hope it survive. cos i know its hard to keep. Bro, Red mangroves are unique and one of the hardiest plants that can survive in all types of salinity condition. When in seawater, they survive by excreting salt through their leaves. In home condition, we need to intervene by spraying the leaves with some fresh water every other day. I am using DI water to lightly spray onto the leaves twice a week. In nature, this action is done by mother nature as when it rains, the salt will automatically be washed off the leaves. U will be surprise at the amount of nitrate it can pull out from the water.... Enjoy your mangroves and the natual biotope... kelvintan_a1ea
Guys, u need more than a few stalks to keep your NO3 down. I have abt 15-20 stalks rite now. 4 ft x 1.5 x 1.5 with 2 ft sump & 6 inch DSB. Also using a small macro skimmer only. My NO3 is zero. 90% LPS and 10% SPS. Feeding 5 ml of phyto feast every other day. Anyway, Bro Reefzzz can give good price. SRC Member Reefaholic Posted July 1, 2007 Author SRC Member Share Posted July 1, 2007 Nice mangroves.. I did a mesh net and styoform to float them in my sump. Change my sump lights to 5000 and 6000k. Spray a little fresh water on the leaves and will do it every other 3 days. Interestingly i added cheato below them. When all the roots and cheatos are grown.. I hope to see some copepods too. Currenly i have about 30+ and maybe if it really works i buy another 20 more.
