Have not decided whether to go for a 3ft or 4ft tank but likely a 3ft...not really rushing into it at the moment but my next tank or stand should be rust or mite free no lesser than 10mm..

$300 for a wooden stand sounds reasonable...any pic to share..

will keep in mind to get the contact from u when custon built my SS stand..thx...not forgetting also on your leftovers.. :D

Funny though how come no one comes out with an alum alloy stand?? must be ex..just like those bicycle.

aluminium is soft by nature and wouldnt hold the weight of a tank without excessive thickness.

Another method is to use zinc galvanised mild steel but you will need connections as these are industrial processes and they might cost a bomb if you are not from industrial companies.

I think the best way to get around this rusty tank or rotting wood thingy is to build a concrete stand. I have been thinking about this for my next house and tank....Any danger with this method?

I think (marine) therefore I am

terryansimon, tons of energy is required. not that cheap. :) engineer = make. aluminimun alloy stuff r not cheap to make, workmanship fees r high. :)

Benz..., this is one of the cheapest method. What do u expect? What you pay is what you get. :) BTW, need to be submerged meh? I seen buildings having zinc blocks on their metal cable holders!

Chris , yes there are. Concrete's strength to weight ratio is poor. :(

I intend to have a cornered plastic sheet with a hoe drilled on 1 end just below the styrofoam to direct the escaped water to a collecting container. And of course, the sheet must be larger than the stand. :) I dun think it would look nice. Haiz. Why must we scarifice someting in exchange for another thing????????
