sandsifting goby

Yo, u need to have "good stuffs" in the sand for the sand gobies to feed on cuz that's how they feed unless trained to pellets or other food. When they sift the sand, they're basically feeding on micro-organisim. That's what I observed for the gobies in my tank. But once the sand are quite free of all this stuff, they'll slowly starve to death. Unless they start eating pellets etc.

Sandsifting gobies are like that one... once job done, they'll automatically expire, juz like doctor fish like that. Unless one got a super doper tank full of "life" in it.

So far the only tank that I've seen the same doctor fish survived for a long period is the one in ML display tank. The one with the big black tang. Think that one really is in good partnership with the blackie and also pellet or other food trained liao.

the diamond sandsifting goby die.

prepared a tub to take him out and target feed him but came back to find him dead.

would like to get a sandsifting goby again to clear my sand.

so is it because my sand grain too big for him or they need to be trained?

need to know first before i reattempt.

if there is, what kind of sandsifter to buy and at where?

anyway, this goby die with a lot of reddish blotches inside the body. looks like internal bleeding. cyanide caught?

Think your sand grade is fine. Sand gobies mouth are quite big one

I have tried a few type, Blue cheek(Sleeper goby), Banded goby, Diamond goby(Orange spot) and the plain white goby. For me, the longest survival is the Diamond goby.

I had a banded goby that learnt how to eat with the other fishes, and continued to sift sand. it went from bone skinny to fat. Just died when it decided to try and escape from my tank. Found it on my floor all dried up. Just bought another from LFS at pasir ris...not sure name of LFS...it's the one with the giant arowana at the entrance gate.

Here's a pic of the banded goby...

I have a 2 yrs old diamond sandsifting goby.

My sand is grade 0 , around 1 inch thick. I managed to get it to feed frozen brine shrimp before shifting to pellets, after that....every thing also hit....

bristle worm, snails, pest crabs....omg.. hahahha.

Try it with frozen food or garlic laced food first bah
