There are many poisonous stuff like corals and fishes that many do not know of, therefore, i suggest a list of them so that we can actually be more aware, take me for instance, i din know that zoanthids from the Palythoa species secrete a the most poisonous poison (organic). luckily i din handle them with cuts.

lets get it rolling.....

Most softies are toxic. And most corals are toxic too.

Never touch any coral when there is an open wound on your fingers.

I was talking to the fat belly at LCK110. He was telling me about a small cut he got on his finger from handling a coral and that his fingers was bleeding profusely. He then proceed to clean it with freshwater and press hard to stop the bleeding. But it doesn't stop. Finally, he took a disinfectant lotion and bandage tightly over it.

He only open it a few days later to find that the skin surrounding the cut was fill with air bubbles and puss. And that his skin cells appeared dead. A few days later it spreads. He then proceed to use a scissors to cut away the infected skin up to the inner flesh. :eyeblur:

The finger recover with a deep scar.

Wear gloves if you can. If you have open wound, even touching the water may cause the infection.

o yep i do have a large leather around a palm size in my tank for one year

so far so good never kill any coral which i have know

but when i clean up my tank

never never touch it or else it will shrink it

and perhaps release some toxic chemical into my tank

making my tank become become a bio chemical warfare tank

actually almost hard and soft corals have self defensive

system be it sting or release chemical

just be careful dun touch them :(

The world is such a wicked place, war btween the human race. People work to earn their bread, while across the sea they're counting dead

:off: Nothing is more dangerous in this hobby than electric shocks from improperly fitted eletrical structures or even lousy brand powerheards...

I believe most reefers here have more of this common experience than being stung by some corals...

just my $0.02 ;)

I thought salt water is supposed to be antiseptic? Any bio gurus to verify these claims?

I do know of instances where fresh water fish disease migrated to humans (as with discuses) but they are extremely rare.
