Can anyone tell me what this is. It looks so beautiful that I just can resist but buy it. Now I need to know how to keep it happy and alive.

I second that... it doesn't produce its own food so you got to feed it a few times per week... recommended to be kept by exprience reefers....

you guys are great. So fast come back to me lau. I will read up more in the net on this. It's just too beautiful to let it die. The pylops are blue in colour. Just too beautiful to resist. First time saw this.

its a sea fan, of the order gorgonicea.

you need to give it current cos its a filter feeder.

also you need to feed it food which its polypls can catch,

like plankton.

hi thanks bum .. this article was great. I had placed them in the direction of my water inlet . .so always have current. and under the MH 150W light. Hope will survive. Just fed it with brine shrimp nauplii.

bro, no offense but i think next time u better have knowledge of what u r buying even before u make the purchase.... good research makes a better reefer than "buy now wonder and ponder later" attitude....

it's a plankton feeding sea fan, pretty red branches with blue polyps always reaching out to catch food.... it doesnt need strong lights and prefers fast moving currents....

hi bro . .I know. Always try to do that. But was just too excited when I see this little quite creature . .just can't resist. It's open very well.. .and in my direct current. Fed it with plankton and rotifers (Just went to buy from Water Ci****). Trying to keep it alive. I have 2 fans myself .has beeen with me for the last 4 months . .opening very well. So I hope this will be happy with me too and show off it's beauty to me .

Its a non photosynthetic deepwater gorgonian.

You don't need light to sustain it but frequent feedings of phytoplankton and very small zooplankton.

I have one too. Polyps are extended most of the time. I feed DT's everyday.

wow according to the article, sea fan when dying can be very toxic to tank inhabitants?? anybody know if this applies to all seafans?

well . .the normal ones i bought is for $5. This piece i paid $25 for it. It's very ex. But if it lives . .is worth it. I really love it lots.
