they are emiting zooxanthelae .. either they are stressed or the zooxanthelae is dead or simply they are bleaching due to various reasons like insufficient light/ lighting too strong , wrong salinity etc.

maybe u can provide more detail of ur water parameter / placement and lightings.

any gurus out there can assist in sharing why this "brown mucus-like stuff" is being discharge from mushrooms?

thx in advance :D

A quick remedy is to do some water change with good salt mix (Tropic Marine Reef Pro) and see how's the button (see it in another thread) and mushroom behaving.... Ensure no fish is "eating" them....

:) Greeting :)

Tank: 4' by 2' by 2' (CR antique)

i find that the TM proreef is very high in calcium...480ppm....most likely it may shock the corals too...

the normal TM salt is jus nice for mushies IMO...

Maybe you are right in term of Ca level.... as far as I'm concern, I am more worry of PH or temperature shock which I find the corals are more sensitive.... And a common practice of water change is to change 20-30% of water in the tank which I doubt will shock the corals. But TM salt will do the job as well.

it may just be splitting

all splitting mushrooms looks as if its dying

all dying mushrooms also look like its splitting.

but once thing can notice is if it still firmly stuck on the rock than its splitting.

that what i notice from 2 splitting mushies and a jump off dead mushie
