CR not function?

Recommended Posts

Hi Bro,

I've fixed a CR 2 days ago but I still can't see any increase in the calcium level, can anyone tell me why?

Btw, my CR is Aqua Medic 1000, CO2 1 drop/sec.

Thanks in advance!

Measure the Ca level of effluent of the CR, if its still low -> measure the pH.

It could be the Co2 is insufficient thus not melting the Ca media.

Share with us your findings so that we may assist in more detail.

PH 8.3, KH 8. It seems ok for PH and KH but the calcium level is still not rise and that's why it puzzle me.

I've also adjust the CO2 to 1sec 2 drops today. Hopefully it will be better next few days. By the way, does CR needs set up time like denitrator? or it will function immediately after fix it?

Thanks!

Hi bhtteo,

I guess you've misunderstood RockyBoy and Gouldian. pH 8.3 and kH 8 is the parameter of your aquarium or CR? You should measure pH/kH/Ca of the "output" of your CR. If your output pH is 8.3, then its too high and the media is not "burning". :)

CR will raise Ca and kH of your aquarium slowly. The working principle between CR and denitrator is different ;)

Hope this helps..

also what about your effluent output?

Example, my tank, mostly sps but so many colonies types, my co2 bubble count is about 2 to 4 per sec, but I dun care about this because I have pH controller set at pH 6.5 in the reactor chamber. My effluent output, which has about 30-40kH is about 10 dropsper minute or more....can't really see the drop cause its free flowing. WIth that, I can maintain the main tank at 420-440ppm. Since the ionic balance of the tank is important, such as ratio of 1:3 for calcium and mag, I have to dose mag to maintain at 1400ppm. Not only that, I have to dose strontium as well. Also need to maintain tank kH at about at least 8dkh. Since pH is quite difficult to maintain if you are using CR, I have to dose kalk everyday for the water top-up.
