SRC Member drewy Posted November 6, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted November 6, 2003 hello got a branch of my hammer coral dying, so before it started dissolving into the water, i used a big syringe to suck out all the decaying areas, it works very well anyway, must i remove the dead branch??? will it affect the other branches or not ah???thats my main question. if i just leave it, will it spread through the 'inner core' of the skeleton?? thanks drew
Achilles Tang
As long as you don't see any brown jelly infection, the other branches should be fine. The coral tissue doesn't go all the way in, just around the corallite structures ie. the tip of the skeleton where you see rows of septa. mAriNe_enthusiast
Hi, I also had the brown jelly diease infecting 1 of my hammer branch when i first bought it. I also siphon away and now it's there botak. It didn't infect the rest of the branches. I'm just wondering if it's gonna be botak all the way...will anything grow on it? SRC Member pospeh Posted November 6, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted November 6, 2003 It is going to stay bald. There is a very slight chance that a new branch may sprout beside the dead one and cover it up, but you need very good water conditions, and it will grow very slowly.
