Rise of the Cleaner Shrimp

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I woke up this morning to find the head of my last clown fish in the claws of

my cleaner shrimp. :shock::shock::shock:

This is the second clown fish in 2 weeks to end up in such state.:cry:

Both clown fish were tiny ones (1/2 - 3/4 inch).

Does anyone else have this 'problem'?

Is the cleaner shrimp guilty fellow for wacking off my clown fish??

Water parameter seems fine. Just did a 20% water change on Sunday.

Thinking of locking up the cleaner shrimp in a plastic container within the tank when i add in new stock of clown fish.

Any advise.

Many thanks!

Megatron

cleaner shrimps will never eat up fishes, unless yours is not a cleaner shrimp...

IMO, there might be something wrong with your water parameters, that's y the clown dies.

how big is your tank? depending on your tank size, a 20% change can be a lot of water and this might disrupt your whole tank cycle.

pls check your water parameters 1st before adding new fishes...

hahahaha...it's more possible that if u said that ur clown eat your cleaner than your cleaner shrimp eat your clown..haha..

yeah...like wat the rest mention, your cleaner shrimp is just eating the remains of your clown so

you don't have to worry about that.

It's just cleaning up your tank.

20percent of water change is not too much so you don't have to worry about that.

Your shrimps are actually more sensitive to water parameters than your clownfish.

Fishes dying can be caused by that of your water. it might be full of viruses and bacterias.

did your fishes show any sign of diseases before they died ?

The water parameters can be alright and nothing wrong but if there is illness in the water, it can caused the death of fishes.

u need to observe more and look into your water parameters too becos coming into a conclusion.

change ur water twice a week per ten percent each time.

it will allow you to slow remove the bad stuffs in it.

then get a bettabox by your tank, put in a clown or damsel into the bettabox and observe it.

damsel will be a good choice as they are hardy but can be troublesome when they get used to the tank, they can be aggressive.

and sometimes they are too hardy for good.

using a bettabox can help you to get rid of them becos it will be hard to catch them later.

CHEERS.

Good LUck.. :yeah:

Thank you very much for valuable advise.

Seems like the jury has made a decision... the Cleaner Shrimp is INNOCENT

of clown fish murder.... :D:lol::D

Just got a pair of clown fish this morning from Ah Beng... like Oracle has mentioned..

I picked a pair of bigger clown fish... shld be more hardy.

Will continue to monitor the water parameter...

any tip to monitor illness in the water?? the last clown fish was swimming well before it end up

dead in the morning.... strange?!?!?

Hmmmm...... must call in the CSI team to investigate.
