take someone's old tank? or start new

hi all!! need ur advice... someone offer me 2 of his 3ft tank with sand, overflow system, lights, cycles saltwater and water pump for $250 .. but i thinking of getting a 4ft one to start with ...??

do u think this is a good deal..?? is it better to start with a set up tank.. or start afresh ..??

i'm new to this hobby.. i used to rear koi... give me some advice..

A lot of people say the bigger the tank the better the tolerance to error.

I regret starting with a 2 ft tank.

However, the price you will be paying is quite good. Since, you will not be receiving any LR, it is equivalent to starting from scratch.

Can't comment abt the price.

But for the cycled saltwater and sand, not sure how you are going to transport it.

You will still need to go thru the full cycling process, as any bacteria in the sandbed is being removed/dead after your shift. as for water....I'm not sure how useful it will be.

You may be able to acheive 1 to 2 weeks faster in cycling...but I dun see that as important.

Better make sure you have a tank you like, and for the lights, make sure it is one that can support the live stock that you wanted to keep.

TO re-do is tedious, and it is as good as All over again. :P
