mininum lighting for SPS...

Hi... Wat the mininim lighting for SPS.... Is 2 x 150W MH and 2 x 39W T5 enuff... thniking of adding some sps in my next 4ft tank... any other requirement to keep them...

wat's ur tank depth? im also using 2x150w for my 4ft x 2ft x 2ft and keeping montis and a few acro frags, doing fine...

I recommend nothing less than 250Ws if you are interested in SPS....

Sorry to jump into this thread.....I am using a single MH 250w for my 4ft x 1.5ft x 2ft tank and intend to keep some SPS acros.

Does it sufficient?

More than sufficient if all the light loving sps are kept directly under it

You not have problem keeping sps and lps under those lighting.

There is more to keeping sps than just lights.......Temperature, Water quality....

maybe .... but think that a bigger worry is that too many r going into it which might cause more problems :

1) Prices going UP !

2) Some guys might not be fully ready for SPS ( lights, water conditions ....etc )

3) RTN due to the above hence more damage to the Reef !!!

4) SPS might be another Nemo craze that comes n goes by like a storm !!! Sad ending again !!!

5) ALso , the supply of SPS is always there .... u will be able to get SPS ... just a matter of time ....

Last but not least .. all those that r ready , ie tank wise n mentally n of course pocket wise too ... join the SPS bandwagon Like Morgan , Phang n AT ..... namely !!!

my tank is 2ft by 1.5ft by 1ft illuminated with two 55watt PL lights. all other water parameters perfect. i was thinking of keeping one or two SPS in a few years time. do you think it is enough or should i just drop the idea.

Drop the idea unless you going to upgrade lighting to MH...
