Anthias in a LPS Tank

Still long way off to becoming an Alpha Male.

Take a look at this Alpha Male Dispar in my last dive at Sipadan.

Morgan with colours like that I dun care even if its a Alpha Bapoh.

After I saw the sunburst in AT's tank, I decided to go for anthias now. And after seeing your photos, I am even more determined. The hell with the disappearing fire gobies.

Not a very clear shot.. max zoom.

Check out the length of the tail and its colours on this Alpha Male dispar, note the upturned upper lip too.

Of cos it can't compare to the wild school.

As I say, it will turn to an alpha male....the head colour to a dark pink colour when excited. Only thing is that the body need to lose some of the pinkish colour and turn yellow then it will be striking.

If you are going for dispar.....get those with a more red colouring...look better than those yellowish pink specimen. The latter look abit washout.

You're right... its a vast difference between wild specimens and those that end up in aquariums.

You know what would be awesome? At least a hundred of these dispars in your 8 ft tank!

Well, its a male for sure.. but it has yet to develop better characteristics to qualify as an alpha male such as the upturned lip, longer finnage, brighter colours.... but only time will tell!

Perhaps if it is within a school of males and females and establishes its dominance, then it'll develop into the Alpha?

I like your mixed anthia school... looks like the tiger's a good buy!

AT....only 1 of the tiger is good....have doubt that the other will make it. Still not really eating. Not even with bbs and cyclopeeze.
