Yes, clownfishes are hard to keep for beginners, esp common and true percula clowns.

Clownfish even have their own category of disease, known as, what else, "Clownfish disease". I've found Octozin by Waterlife Research effective against it.

The easier clowns, IMO are : Clark's clown, Tomato clown, Maroon clown (but most aggressive).

Remember to introduce clowns into the tank together or else they may fight.

Is "clown fish disease" = a layer of white film/skin peeling off from the body. I lost 1 due to this white film thing and another one in QT. Please advise. Thanks a lot.

Yes, Octozin is a medication, available from Petmart and C328. It comes in tablet form and is stated suitable for Marine fish, and harmless to invertebrates. I'm sure most reefers will advise against any medication in the main tank, so see if you can use a Quarantine Tank. Forgot the price already, but surely cost more than a common clown :yeah:

Clownfish diseases explained in www.wetwebmedia.com/brooklynellosisart.htm

From your description, sounds like velvet, I've lost a few clowns from it too.

Maybe more seniors can advise what to do.
