I have this 2 X 1 X 1.5 feet tank that has a 1 cm scratch on the side glass around 1/3 from the top.I can hardly feel the scratch. It is one of those 6mm type float glass tank. I am worried that this will compromise the overall strength of the tank. Should I be worried?

Pardon me for being paranoid because the tank is in my office. To have a tank collapsing is the ultimate nightmare for me. :worry:

It depends on how deep the scratch is. the scratch will act as a stress concentrator if its deep enuff, ie, upon hard knock the force at the scratch will be concentrated and may pi-chia the glass where normally the glass wouldn't. but I think it would need a really really hard knock, and most prob you'll be able to see the crack lengthen before it really pi-chias, so don't worry about it, very unlikely for the tank to give way.
