UV sterlizer for reef tank???

Hi all,

I read some where that UV sterlizer is not good for reef tank. It will kill off some food source (copepod) of the corals & fish. It's that truth? Coz i have an UVC2000 laying around.

yes is true that UV sterlizer will kill off copepod ,plankton,nauplii and rotifers.etc..it can also use to kill white spot ...and more.......

thks for the reply.

i was thinking maybe either turn the uv on just 2-3 hrs a day or alternate days so as to control any potential algae boom. will this works??? i mean controlling of nuisance algae boom.

If you have QT put it in the QT... when fishes got white spot catch it out and put in QT...

actually my main purpose is to control nuisance algae in my main tank. so will uv helps???

does not seem to help with mine.. I onz 24hours a day in my fowlr tank.

try to get sailfin blenny it will eat most algae ...or get more snail and hermit crab ....this is what i am doing to my tank ... this fellow are very good cleaner for algae ...and do not need to feed them....save money $$$$.....
