ah fat
my coral banded shrimp is growing a bit overly aggressive. its not allowing my cleaner shrimps on the rock or my clowns to rest on the star polyps. what to do?
SRC Member Thexder Posted April 7, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted April 7, 2007 Give them some time to settle down and adjust. I do find that my coral banded is also more aggressive than the cleaner shrimps.
SRC Member RX_GAN Posted April 7, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted April 7, 2007 hahaha...did u buy it when it's small ? think u need some time to tame it...how long did u keep it ? My coral banded at first was very fierce and it ate up one of my cleaner... but after i keep on adding cleaner the proper way and letting them to adjust to the environment... soon i see that my coral banded shrimp are together with my cleaners.. very nice scene.. best is that i witness my coral banded cleaning my tang... hahaha...after all it's a cleaner shrimp too but they only clean big fishes... If u witness a coral banded shrimp cleaning during captive time, it's rare and it's really fortunate for u... so just keep on trying...maybe can add in more cleaners... it's like...when u are the biggest around, u rule the place but when the small form a group, u will retreat to ur own cave. Cheers. good luck. Quote . X-Nature . SRC Member RX_GAN Posted April 13, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted April 13, 2007 it's normal for shrimps to molt like once every 3 weeks...as long as there is enought iodine in the water for them. tan_pao_wei
Hi guys got a question. A few days ago when I reached home at night I saw my cleaner shrimp molded its shell, and I just decided to do a 20% water change with no particular reason. The very next day mornig I saw my cleaner shrimp dead and the boxer shrimp was feeding on it. Did the boxer shrimp kill it or it or the cleaner shrimp just died on its own after molding? Has it got to do with my water change? Anyway they bought them together about 1week ago and everything is fine.

After moulting they will be venerable as their new shell is still soft (that's how we can soft shell crab) and will take several hours to harden. I guess your cleaner shrimp may be attacked by the coral banded shrimp during this time and don't think it will have anything to do with your water changes.
