i dont know how the coraline algea grows. my friend has a 55g for 7 years and he has no coraline. maybe its because of the MH and my calcium is at 400. its not good when it gets on the glass though i have to scrape it off with a razor blade.

update: the extra pump is working great! the acro is completly open! i'm very happy with the flow in the tank. makes me want to go buy more SPS tonight. now i just have to find a way to hide the pump. tried to get a picture but they never come out good.

oh i read the thermometer wrong.!!!    its actually only 27*C   which its 80*F. 

sorry for the confusion.  so it actually does stay rather cool. 

the evaporation is not a lot.  its about  0.2-.03 liter a day.

Running MH with only 2 fans on a 12g tank able to maintain 27C!!!

Hey everyone! havnt been here in a while. the tank is still doing great. i had to move it to my parents house while we build a new house. everything moved over without anythingn dying. once my new house is done i will be hopefully buying a bigger tank, maybe 75gallon or bigger, and converting this nano into a seahorse tank.

Its been about 6 months since i've taken any pics of the tank. so heres some new ones. the tank is now 13 months old and still going strong. i lost 2 cleaner shrimp in 2 months due to my purple pseuedo eating them. so as soon as i find a home for him he's gone and getting replaced with another clown. i havnt been running the fuge since the summer time because i was having a huge cyno issue in it. i think theres not enough flow back there. it was working great for months before i had the problem. but my nitrates are around 5 without it so i'm not too concered at the moment. the tank is at my parents house while my new house is being built so i havnt really had time to mess with anything. the only thing that died during the move was the purple corraline on the back wall, and now green coraline is growing in its place.

hey guys!

my tank is doing great. my acro died a few weeks ago when i lost power for 26 hours. the tank got too cold i guess. but the good news is i got a 24g nano cube now. i'll be adding metal halides and actinics too it just like in the 12g and move my stuff over into it.

today i picked up a 100w stealth heater and 24 gallons of distilled water. i did a 1 gallon water change in the 12g and put the old water in the new tank to get some bacteria in there. the new tank took about 19.5 gallons, it's got nothing in it but the pump, heater and nano koralia.

heres a pic of the size difference between the 12 and the 24. and the second one is the tank with the water in it. I know boring.

thats 23 pounds of live rock i got off another member of my local reef club. i will be adding more rock out of my other tank as well. tomorrow or tuesday i will get some live sand.

This is prolly one of the most conventional scaping, easy to set up with nice cave in the middle. I've changed mine around, but like this the most. Looking forward to your updates!

it used to be. that was in my other tank. we had a power outage a few weeks ago and the tank got very cold and it died. I'm really upset it died, i've had it for 18 months and it was growing really well. i put it in the new tank for decoration while it cycles.

the lights are in. i'm still making sure my temps will be stable. i will be running a 10k 70w metal halide with 1x36w and 1x24w metal halide. right now theres a 14k MH and 2 50/50 power compacts. also the stock moon lights are still functional.

not much for updates yet. tank is still cycleing. i put in 6 hermits and 6 snails to start cleaning up the diatoms. yesterday i took the hydorflo out of my 12g and put it in the 24g. i removed 3 of the blades in it to improve flow. the heater is a 100w stealth. tank is running at a steady 80*F wih the lights on and off.

next i think i am going to upgrade the pump to a maxijet 1200. i was going to keep the stock one originally but the cord is too thick. i like the smaller maxijet cord better. its easier to run through the grommets in the hood.

I'm also looking at getting the reefkeeper 2 to control all the equipment. i like how it will shut the lights of is the tank temp gets too high. or shut the heater off if it sticks.

yes, the SPS was dead before i put it in the tank. it was doing great in my 12g until we lost power for over a day. the tank got really cold and the next day the SPS died.
