Kole Tang

Hi reefers,

Read that most reefers recommend Kole Tang to get rid of algae problem. Hope you can help me with following queries:-

1) I have tons of hair algae in my tank. Already tried Rowaphos and UV, but still have the same problem. Will the Kole Tang eat this type of algae?

2) Have managed to culture some nice caulerpa in the tank. Will the Kole Tang also eat this?

3) How much does the fish cost, and where can I buy one?

4) Anyone has a picture of this fish...have no idea how it looks like :paiseh:

Many thanks for advise!

From my own exp,

1) Yes, Kole do eat some of the hair algae from my tank.

2) Tang being Tang will have a tendency to eat all green plant in the tank.

3) Price range from 20+ to 30 depending on LFS. They usually come in Hawaii Shipment. Irwana had 1 shipment lately but not too sure if any still avail.

4) http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/tangs/yelloweyekoletang/

Just my 2 token worth.

Bro, if you intend to get a sea hare, be sure to give it t someone else once your hair algaes are gone. It may suffer from hunger if not much algae are present. Or probably you can get it from reefers who have their hair algaes cleared. I don't really recommend kole eye tang for removing of hair algaes, they won't clear out as much as a sea hare or fox face does.
