No the mushrooms won't tolerate cycling conditions. When they are described as tough it means that they can stand up to a certain amount of neglect and don't require as much conditions to be met as SPS.

Patience is part of the hobby. The only thing that happens fast in a reef tank is a disaster.

U should use damsels instead. They r a pretty hardy lot.

To cycle, u can start wif a pair...after cycle, wat i did was to introduce new fishes on a weekly basis. Eg. 1 per week.

I am sure others pratice diff methods/ time periods.

I'm gonna break the cycle

I'm gonna shake up the system

I'm gonna destroy my ego

I'm gonna close my body now

PCK,

There is no need to use livestock to cycle the tank when a piece of prawn is just as effective.

Even urine is a good source of nitrogen. *cough* some one with a hairless dog uses that!*cough*

Damsels are a pain to keep in the future and are hard to catch.

How big is your tank? What filtration equipment are you using?

Having a base for the rock is a good idea because sand can shift causing the rocks to fall over. AT uses PVC pipes as a stand. I place my rocks on the sand neat. Some people don't even have sand and the rocks are straight on the glass.
