Seek Advices - Sizing of Pumps

Hi There,

I have this tank size - 4.5' x 2' x 2.5' ht, the total volume is about 573 Litres (based on 90% full water level)

I saw some threads in other forums, stating that a norm is to be able to turnover 3 to 4x the total volume of the tank. Thus for my this 4.5' tank, based on below which Pump should i go for? (am using over and underflow - internal filtration systems)

1. 573Litres x 2.5times = 1433 L/H (is it too weak to push waste in maintain?)

2. 573Litres x 3times = 1720 L/H

3. 573Litres x 3.5times = 2006 L/H (get a 2000L/H - good enough?)

4. 573Litres x 4times = 2293 L/H

Rating of Pumps

OR3500 - 3500 L/H (over powerful - is the flow rate too fast for BB cultivation?)?

Aquabee3000 - 3000 L/H (ok?)

Eheim1260 - 2400 L/H (ok?)

Sicce Multi 2500 - 2500 L/H (too weak?)

RIO 14HF - 3190 L/H (ok?)

Any other recommendations from you?

:thanks:

IMHO, at least 10X and above ;) .

I'm using 5800H/L for my 3 ft tank, 300L and i prefer 20X flow rate :D .

Even those, you still have to cal in the height from the pump to main tank, L/T joint....It will reduce you flow rate if too many joint involved.
