Hi All,

Very new to this hobby need lots of advice from forumers.

I having a 4ftx2ftx2ft with a sump tank need advice on mixing salt, bought a pack of instant ocean 8kg, is it enough for my tank?

What's the step needed for me to mix salt?

I'm useing a dymax LS 40 skimmer is it ok for my tank?

What chiller should i buy to support my tank?

After mixing salt how long i have to wait before i put in fish?

Please advice.

1)You have to buy a hydomater for checking your salt needed.

2)after mixing the salt you have to add in LR and wait for at least a month for the ANA cycle to finish. Then u canused a test kit to check your NO2 and NO3

LR is Live Rocks

ANA cycle is the cycling process for the bacteria to break NO2 to NO3 as NO2 is poisonous to the fishes

bro Raceface85.. yu having the same size tank as me.. 8kg of mixing salt is not enough.. 4x2x2 is ard 400L of water..

as of chiller if yu goin of FOWLR can dun use but yu goin to have corals use look for resun 650..

skimmer go for better.. dymax LS 40 is gd for 3fter but 4ft look for a better 1..

after ANA cycle check ph, kh, no2, no3, po4..

when yu add LR check ur po4 I'm sure it will go up.. happy reefing

Not that I would want to pour cold water on you but it does seem that you've not been doing some reading up before you embark on this hobby.

Without a doubt, I guess many of the senior reefers here also advocate pre-hobby research first as it does play a very very major role in your success and enjoyment of the hobby.

It is good to read up on articles on the other forums or www.reefcentral.com and do some budgeting. Many reefers quit this hobby after pumping in a lot of cash just to find that they are unable to sustain the tank (electricity bill, maintenance, etc).

We're here to help you but you'd have to do us a favour by first helping yourself and making sure you are not killing these precious marine animals.

For now, I suggest strongly that you do some reading up first although it is tedious and would take up a lot time but I guarantee you, it is 101% worth the effort!
