I think its a pistol?!!!

Might be a loster too!!!(FAT HOPE!!! )

Pistol are known to have a claw larger than the other!!!

Pistol Shrimp, Snapping - Synalpheus species

The Pistol Shrimp, Snapping may grow to 2 inches. Carnivore. The Synalpheus species is generally peaceful toward other tankmates. Reef-safe. Many consider the Synalpheus species a low-maintenance specimen. Not venomous. Algae eater, sand sifter. Claws will snap. Nocturnal feeder. Scanvenger that likes to sift through sand for food. Requires iodine for proper molting. Pistol Shrimp are the predominant crustaceans on the world's reefs... and so you are likely to run into them... they eat most all types of foods... and if kept fed will often leave other crustaceans and mollusks alone. Seldom seen, often heard... and the results of their "shooting" known far and wide... the alpheids can be easily identified (if you can find them) by their very short eye stalks and one much larger "pistol" claw. This specialized appendage is capable of punching holes in all crustacean exoskeletons, even many shellfish! Alpheus and Synalpheus species are the notable symbionts with Shrimp Gobies. Keep water quality high (SG 1.023 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).

Yours is a left hander heheh

:peace:

It's just a pistol shrimp. They are not harmful. You can pluck out the bigger pincer and feed the shrimp to your fish if you want.

Hi all,

Does pistol shrimp make "snapping sound" ? I have 2 of those in my 3ft tank, some time I can hear sound coming from the tank, it does sound like someone "Cocking a pistol" or is it my imagination :P

Same thing happen to me. There is always "snapping sound". Does it mean mantis shrimp? Anyway, I happen to see one yesterday evening. No wonder all my bottom dweller fishes died in a few days time.

Headache about getting rid of it. Any idea so that I need not take out all the LR? Any "gentler" fish that will prey on Mantis shrimp?
