Dear all,

Pls help me. My hubby have been posted overseas to work for 1 month plus & he left his beloved fishes under my care.

But i cannot do a good job. =( I tink is the nitrate but I dunno how to cure it.

Do the test kit using API (Aquarium pharmaceuticals):

2 feet tank

Use to have 2 Dwarf angel, 2 Chromis & 1 cleaner shrimp, some coral (some not opening like before dunno y)

But 1 dwarf die & 1 chromis die. (left 1 dwarf, 1 chromis & 1 shrimp)

Salt level was 1.022

KH at 11 Drop

Ammonia at 0 ppm

Nitrite at 0ppm

Nitrate at 20ppm (OMG)

Phosphate at 1ppm

Calcium drop from 18 to 14 Drop. (280ppm nia)

In his cupboard he has:

- Ammo Lock from API

- Prime detoxifies Nitrite & Nitrate from seachem

- Reef Builder from seachem

- Instant mud to absords phosphate from aquapharm

- Reef Kalkwasser from seachem

I dun dare to anyhow add coz i wanna seek advice first. Pls help~ What can i do to help the poor fish.

Your water parameter is fine for your fishes. Does the fishes have any wound? It could be something pray on your damsel and angels. How much do you feed them at a time? And how many times you feed them per day? What did you feed your fishes? You have to remove the 2 fishes 1st. Btw, how long have the 2 dwaft been in the tank? Is it newly added?

Hi mansiz

No Wound.

How much do you feed them at a time? And how many times you feed them per day?

1/2 teaspoon, 2 time once morning, once night.

What did you feed your fishes?

pellet

You have to remove the 2 fishes 1st.

Already remove when i posted this.

Btw, how long have the 2 dwaft been in the tank? Is it newly added?

The 2 dwaft has been with us for 1 year.

I did the water chnge liao. no fish die today. lucky. hope they are fine tml. but dun tink that will be long term solution by changing water.

*Thanks Sapp & xersion*

My hubby still got 3 more weeks before he is back. so long. how to improve water condidtions for them to survive???

phosphate at 1ppm is very high and that could be one of the reason why ur coral are not opening.

the rest of the parameter are fine. dun worry. Calcium seem to be low though.

but that should not be a bother to fishes.

HI BlurGal,

It will be more helpful if you can post a picture of your tank. A picture is worth more than a thousand words as they say.

1ppm phosphate will not cause alot of harm to your fish but it will encourage algae growth which you dun really wan.

You can try using rowaphos or any cheaper alternative phosphate removal media to lower your phosphate level.
