SRC Member cherietung Posted January 5, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted January 5, 2007 Hi All, I believe that many reefers had experienced at least 1 dead coral during your reefing period. Can I get some feedback as what you do with the dead coral thereafter? I have collected a lot of dead corals over the years and wish to know if there is any other use for them or just simply down the rubbish chute. Anyone? I saw some of them uses their skeleton as decoration, but I'm not sure what it is used exactly for.
jervismun
I remember reading somewhere you could actually crush them into small pieces and use it as calcium reactor media or shell bed... but probably too much effort Quote Tank 60x40x40 Optiwhite Glass Tank Sump Elos 500 w/ Tunze Overflow Protein Skimmer Skimz Kone SK1 Return Pump Hydor Seltz L30 Wavemaker Hydor K1 Illumination 150W + 2 T5 Chiller Arctica 1/5hp w/ Aquabee 1000 Water Top-up Tunze Osmolator Dosing Pumps Grotech 3-Channels Calcium Reactor Deltec PF 501 Computer Aquatronica

SRC Member reeftask Posted January 11, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted January 11, 2007 just leave it in the tank like a LR
SRC Member cherietung Posted February 25, 2007 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 25, 2007 Unfortunately, when you have too many of it, leaving it in your tank will not suffice the need for more space. If anybody wants them (plenty of it), do pm me for collection. Thereafter, I will proceed with the 'chute procedure' if no response. FOC with great thanks for recycling the calcium by-products.
