I just bought some zoas and one frag of it was just a small clump of them around 2cm in size.

Problem is this, this clump is unattached to anything. there are polyps all round facing 360degree in all directions. Its very light and it floats around.

I've settled mushrooms before using a mesh to hold them to rocks. in the case of zoas, would the same method be useful too? I'm just wondering cos all 360deg of the clump has polyps can i make a gentle slit and spread it out as on piece?

would really appreciate advise! THANKS GUYS!

Hi John;

Take a pen knife, cut thru the polyps you wana remove. Then superglue to rock you wana attach. You cannot use mesh as they will not attach like mushie.

Cheers

hi bro,

you can find the 3m Super glue gel at the 3M products shelf in most Popular bookshops. look at the back of the packaging- the ingredients should state cyanoacrylate ethyl. this is the ingredient that ensures the glue does not dissipate in water.

the other brands of such glue gels are selleys and loctite.

take your zoa frag out, cut as you wish, then apply a dab of the super glue onto the fragged portion outside of water. then take this piece of frag withthe wet super glue, submerge it and lightly twist it against the rock surface you wish to stick the frag to. make sure not to press to hard as the zoas will spew toxins, and some blakish liquid stuff if you do. and presto, glued zoas.

in my opinion though, if yo have a small frag, finding a little nook or hole in your rock work, and squeezing the zoa frag in there works best and is least stressful to the coral.

cheers

thanks guys for the very informative stuff. currently i've found an area of low flow and have left the zoa frag there. wrapped a netting around the entire thing to prevent fish from getting to it.

let's see how it goes. i'll update on progress
