Better to reduce your temp with a chiller, invert and corals are quite sentitive to temp changes. I assume that your 30 DegreeC is these few days right? Because we're still in the north-east monsoon season, thats why room temp is quite low, around 28 DegreeC, but what if the room temp rises again? You tank will be around 31.5 DegreeC. Better to invest in a chiller.

my cleaners cant survive

my boxter is doing fine though

hmm... many other factors may have caused the death of your cleaners, unless you have pinpoint and eliminated other possibilities, then you could conclude that the lack of chiller is the reason ma...

actaully i think it really due to a lack of chiller.. fishes have survived in my tank. i cant keep corals though except for one mushy. the corals will start melting. i have tested my water and everything seems normal.

guess i have to get a chiller and try again to see whether its the real caouse.

btw the marine aquarium at ericssion pet in pasir ris sells the cleaners at 5 bucks each. med size. u guys might wanna check it out. its the cheapest i ever came across. the shop is alittle hard to spot. go in by the second entrance further down. its at the side.

cheers

I dumped my Resun chiller and used a fan instead. My 3ft tank temp doesn't go past 29C according to cheap digital thermometer. My bubble (6 months) and leather (3 months) corals seem to be doing well, mushrooms are growing, the zoos are doing so-so, only about half the colony have survived since 6 months ago. Fishes doing very well if they start eating when introduced into the tank! Starfish doing well also.

I would suggest using DC fans like those computer fans as suggested earlier. The AC fans don't generate wind speed over the water to evaporate the water faster and thus lower the water temp better. I used to have the fan switched on 24/7, but have just changed it to switch on with the lights...will have to monitor the water temp during the day when the lights are not on. I'm running on 3ft 4 tubes HO T5s.

I've got a very simple setup. The only pumps permanently on are a 19W Aquamedic and a 7W waterfall filter. That helps to keep any other extraneous heat out of the water.

Finally, I was topping up about 1.5ltr of water a day with the fan on 24/7. I'd suggest setting up a auto-water-top-up system so that you only top-up the water once a week or less. Makes life a lot easier!

Good luck!
