This is what I've found on Wikipedia on the diet of nudibranch.

"They are carnivorous. Some feed on sponges, others on hydroids, others on bryozoans, and some are cannibals, eating other sea slugs, or, on some occasions, members of their own species. There is also a group that feeds on tunicates and barnacles."

Does it mean my corals are safe?

i think the specific diet of species of nudis are still unknown .. many ppl just buy and keep.. some ppl heng heng can survive.. some ppl sway nudi die.. btw... with a tank at your capacity ... a nudi dying might = total wipeout leh .. coz if im not wrong.. nudis like cukes will expel toxins before dying.. careful hor.. another thing is it will smell like -fill in the blank- .. haha.. good luck !

Quick Stats: Purple Nudibranch

Family: Chromodorididae

Range: Indo-Pacific

Size: Up to 3 inches

Diet: Carnivore

Tank Set-up: Marine: Rocks, sand

Reef Compatible: Yes

Tank Conditions: 72-78ºF; sg 1.023-1.025; pH 8.1-8.4

Temperament: Peaceful

Venomous: No

Care Level: Experts only

The Purple Nudibranch is also known as Blue Dorid Nudibranch. It can be a light lavender to dark purple or magenta.

Unfortunately, the dietary requirements make survival of the Purple Nudibranch in the home reef aquarium very difficult. Most nudibranchs eat a specific species of sponge or bryozoans and will accept no substitutes. Because of this, only experts who have had considerable experience with and knowledge of Nudibranchs should attempt to maintain them.

Found this on

Apparently reef safe... but difficult to keep. Die lah... where to find the food for it?
