New identical website

Hi,

I came acoss this site: http://www.mediazoneasia.com/forum/ which is identical to SRC. Just a thought, is there any breakout of member within SRC?? Or is it due to numerous downtime by SRC that resulted in the new forum? If it is, then it's a shame as contribution of knowledge will be diluted. Take me for an example, I have been an avid follower of seahorse.org all this while and have witness the fall out of members within the forum, then out of sudden, a new forum is created which is syngnatid.org. What's more, the new forum has duplicate information from the previous forum and they were arguing over copyright matters. Traffic and contributions went downhill from then. Looks like history is repeating itself over here. It's not going to benefit any reefer ultimately, as either one will refuse to contribute to another forum or there will be two headed snake cause there are a number of familiar nick which I saw in the new forum. AT, I think its time to trash out this conflict once and for all. Maybe it's time to follow up on all the lost trust and confidence after Aquarama 03. A brand new start for 2004 soon. Cheers.

Hmmm... all I know is that ever since the last downtime, there have been at least 3 new websites that have sprouted up with almost similar categories and one other 'old' one revamped to have almost the same categories too.

I take it as imitation as the best form of flattery... ;)

I don't know what to make of it but I'll still continue to give the same amount and level of advice, good content, people management skills, running of a tight ship and maintenance of the atmosphere that has made SRC such a great place to be in, to find support, make new friends, get the latest info etc. It is a great honour for me to serve the public! :)

The Singapore Reef Club will still be the 1st official Marine and Reef Aquarium Club around, and whether or not there are other similar forums around or not, who am I to stop them? ;) Like I said... the marine community is so small... SRC has united them and given them a home after all these years.

It's the organisation of people and not the mode of communication. Look at how far we have gone together as a Reef Club! We are at Aquarama 03, we got involved with the industry and the mass media during the Saving Nemo craze, we clashed with the LFS industry a few times, we had so many public gatherings and home visits etc!

I don't see any conflict as you mentioned... and in fact, the marine sections in Arofanatics and Aquarealms are how I still communicate with people during the last few SRC downtimes. :D

As I mentioned, hopefully with the shift into this reputedly very reliable local webhost, our hosting woes will be OVER! :)

Rest assured, there can only be ONE!

SRC forever!

aiyah no big deal lah, many forums so waht? each forum will naturally develop its own culture and area of expertise. look at fresh water forums, esp planted tank, also got quite a lot, but each forum has quite diff cultures and all have lao jiao helping out. I think its good cuz everyone can find a forum he's most comfortable in and no one forum is overburdened. personally I like SRC for its "wavelength".

I think the software is for operating a Forum is readily avail for free/copy....that's why you can see almost similar function available. But those who really want to copy will have the same descriptions and categories.

We can't stop others from doing things....

Alto I'm new to SRC....I've been to many forums, and what attracted me to stay in a forum will be the behaviour and contributions of all members....hence if you think you value SRC....then behave yourselves and contribute more, the forum will automatically able to retain the members and attract new ones......

Cannot depend just on AT and the moderators alone lar......else, they will probably have to stay up all nights to reply to all questions....then SRC will have a side-line, as promoter for Panda leow....

:P
