You don't get vitamins and essential minerals from tap water anyway. Everything that is needed to reconstitute seawater from freshwater can be found in the salt mix.

Having New Water means no need RO/DI. Perfect for our reef. All minerals required should be in the salt mix.

No extra unwanted minerals in New Water.

I think the New Water is not directly pumped to our houses since it lacks all the necessary elements for human consumption. Also, New water will be pumped back into the reservoir before it comes to our pipes. So , i think still need RO/DI to be safe.

Err... Isn't NewWater made for human consumption? if not, why are our ministers downing them during National Day?:D:lol:

RO/DI is supposedly one of the safest form of water... What yazid said is true, with newwater, we may not need RO/DI units installed at home... cause the new water we are getting are already RO/DI processed...

But then again, out tap water itself is good enough for marine tanks... ;)

Agreed. Our tap water is the best minus the chlorine. If you compare tap water from other countries (Malaysia, USA, etc), ours is THE best.

If only we could buy 5 gallon bottles of New Water. It should be cheaper since the government said it is cheaper to produce.

Distilled water from chemical suppliers can be cheaper than RO/DI replacement cartridges per volume of fluid.
